 We are four local guys trying to make a difference. Newport Biodiesel started with building a pilot project at the Norman Bird Sanctuary (NBS) that demonstrated the ability to produce high quality biodiesel from waste vegetable oil collected from local restaurants. This project provided NBS with biodiesel to heat its buildings and power their farm equipment and it gave us the experience we needed to create a large scale production facility. The benefits of using biodiesel at the NBS are real.

What is Biodiesel?
 Biodiesel is the name of a clean burning alternative fuel, produced from domestic, renewable resources. Biodiesel contains no petroleum, but it can be blended at any level with petroleum diesel to create a biodiesel blend. It can be used in compression-ignition (diesel) engines or in oil furnaces with little or no modifications. Biodiesel is simple to use, biodegradable, nontoxic, and essentially free of sulfur and aromatics.

We are Rhode Island's sole producer of biodiesel. Newport Biodiesel provides the local community with ASTM D6751 certified biodiesel made from a locally generated waste product, restuarant fryer oil. B99 is availble from us and biodiesel in different blends is available from our distributors, T.H. Malloy. The focus of our business is the maritime diesel and home heating oil markets. T.H. Malloy is one of the few distributors in Rhode Island with a license to make marine deliveries.
